Creating:

A combined data platform for cities

Urban Sense is an innovative consortium between Cegeka and Sirus. The data platform for cities and municipalities is truly built to unlock the value of all possible types of data and helps to create the Smart Cities of the future. The platform offers a variety of applications: from analytical and visualization tools, data science and AI to developing applications and services. Knowledge and cost sharing are central elements to the platform. Urban Sense onboards business cases from different domains onto the platform, with a minimum of administrative actions and a wide target audience.

Cost-efficient and open data sharing

The Urban Sense data platform consists of several basic components which are necessary for a cost-efficient, but also high-performance operation. The architecture is constructed in such a way that your data can be flexibly connected, shared or separated from each other, with the necessary attention to security and privacy sensitivity. It is an open platform that allows to connect with other platforms and third-party solutions via open APIs.

The design of the platform is  based on market standards such as the Flemish Open City architecture, OSLO and European open data standards. The technological backbone comes from the partner KPN and is called the KPN Data Services Hub (DSH). This technology was supplemented with specific components developed by Sirus. Do you want to know more on the technical aspect of the Urban Sense Platform? Don’t hesitate to contact us or have a look at the technical details of our cases in Bruges, Leuven and Roeselare.

The advantages of a data platform for your city

A bespoke and relevant data approach

Cities generate tons of structured and unstructured data each day. The diversity of this data makes it very complex to acquire the necessary insights to support decisive policy making. In order to handle this data more efficiently, Urban Sense is therefore applying a pragmatic approach.

First, we figure out which data is relevant, where and how to connect this data and how to present or visualize it. We make sure this data is safely connected, onboarded and enriched with contextual data. Lastly, we make the data interoperable via our Context Broker.

This pragmatic and clear approach ensures that we fully help cities and reassure them that they have sight on all of their data to use it in an efficient manner. Furthermore, cities are always completely aware of the setup-, user-, and maintenance costs of the platform. Our project managers, data experts and service desk are always ready to assist with any questions.

An open and flexible platform for your cities needs

As a city or municipality, you want to involve your local partners as part of your digitization strategy. Thanks to our open ecosystem, that is perfectly possible. Do your software developers want to use certain data to create services for your citizens or do they want to automate processes? Give them access to your shared data and work together on your policy objectives.
